Workshop Information

Many people find it hard to get to grips with finance or could just do with some tips on saving money.
South Coast Moneyline has developed fun workshops specially designed to help expand your knowledge and maybe improve a financial situation. We can visit tenants or community groups, schools or colleges in the Hampshire area.
Funding for the development of this service was provided by Barclays and SCML are working in partnership with education providers Learning Links.
..."Many pupils were surprised, horrified and cross at how much it really costs to exist and how little money was likely to be left for entertainment and holidays.
Pupils then looked at different forms of credit and the significance of those three letters, APR. The fact that it could take nearly 17 years to repay a debt in full if only minimum payments were made provoked an amazed response from virtually all pupils – I only hope they remember this lesson! St. Edmunds School, Portsmouth
"Lin has come into Bay House for two separate terms of four weeks each. On each occasion she was speaking to groups of up to 25 pupils. These pupils were all in the lower half of the year group ability wise.
In the first instance the pupils carried out an exercise where they had to organise a charity event. They got a lot out of it including working as a group in addition too realising the huge amount of work needed to organise such an event.
Secondly the pupils (with the aid of some props) were shown the different sorts of companies offering loans and the amount they have to repay. I think it was a real eye opener for the children and will make them think twice about getting into debt and borrowing money.
Lin’s two visits have been really useful and have slotted in very well with what we are trying to achieve at Bay House School with the Personal Finance course". Bay House School, Gosport
“The workshop that Lin Fisher led with our year 12 was challenging and thought provoking for our students. Their written evaluations showed that they had enjoyed the session greatly and learned much about the dangers of borrowing unwisely and the issue of debt”. Bognor Regis Community College
